A different kind of courage was seen as the Municipality of Pudtol hosted the “Daga Mu, Biyag Ku” blood donation drive; not the kind shown during emergencies, but the quiet bravery of individuals willingly giving a part of themselves to help save lives.
The activity was made possible through the partnership of the Provincial Government of Apayao through the Provincial Health Office under Dr. Mark Joleen M. Calban, PHO II together with Far North Luzon General Hospital and Training Center Blood Bank led by Ms. Juliet A. Nicolas, Provincial Blood Coordinator Mr. Manny Nicolas and the Philippine National Police Provincial Office, in close coordination with the Municipal Government of Pudtol through the Municipal Health Office headed by Dr. Krizzle D. Sungag, together with Municipal Blood Coordinator Ms. Lessilla Perez.
Around 200 members of the Apayao Provincial Police Office and various municipal police stations across the province lined up not for an operation, but to donate blood. It was a powerful reminder that their service to the public goes beyond maintaining peace and order. On this day, they helped save lives in another meaningful way.
Leadership by example was also evident. Atty. Edmar D. Pascua together with other officials personally donated their blood, reinforcing their commitment to genuine public service. Meanwhile, Congresswoman Hon. Eleanor C. Bulut- Begtang made her very first blood donation, a simple yet significant act that inspired many who may have been hesitant. Seeing leaders step forward encouraged others to do the same.
“Daga Mu, Biyag Ku” was not just a health activity. It was a gathering of people with one shared purpose; to help someone they may never meet. Every bag collected carries hope for patients in need, and every donor leaves knowing they made a real difference.
